Stephen (Steve) Barbee, 73, of Healdton, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2026.
Stephen was born on June 22, 1953. He graduated from high school in Seaside, Oregon, and went on to build a career spanning more than 40 years in the restaurant industry as a line chef, restaurant owner, and manager. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of coworkers and customers alike for his strong work ethic, dependability, kind heart, warm wit, and easy-going sense of humor.
In 2011, Stephen retired and moved to Oklahoma to be closer to his growing family and grandchildren. He lived in Ada, Pauls Valley, Noble, and most recently Healdton, where he continued to enjoy the love and companionship of his family.
Stephen is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Sheryl Barbee; his son, Scott Barbee and his wife, Terah; his daughter, Sheidi Cuthbert and her husband, Andrew; his grandchildren, Sheldon Barbee Jr., Hannah Barbee-Myer, Saydee Jewell, Ashton Barbee, and Colten Barbee; his great-granddaughter, Daphne Jewell; his sister, Belinda Steinman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Willis and Sally Barbee; and by his eldest son, Sheldon Barbee Sr.
Stephen will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend whose life was marked by love, hard work, loyalty, and laughter. His quiet strength, generous spirit, and ability to bring a smile to those around him will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Healdton, Oklahoma.
