Luann Lowrance Obituary

In Loving Memory

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved Luann Winover Lowrance, who departed this life on January 2, 2026, at the age of 95 at her home in Norman, OK.Luann was a beloved mother, aunt, grandmother, and great(great)-grandmother, and her family and friends will deeply miss her.

Born on January 13,1930 to Orville J. Winover and Ora Belden (Roberts) Winover, Luann grew up in Carrollton, MO.  She and her sister Sue Ellen were largely raised by their grandparents, Ora and Martha Roberts in Carrollton.  During summers growing up she would visit her great uncle Ollie Roberts who was an Indian Agent in Pawhuska, OK.  After graduating from Carrollton High, she married Robert Harvey Lowrance and they eventually moved to Alabama, living in Mobile, Citronelle, Tuscaloosa, and Hoover. In 1965, after her three children were older, Luann rejoined the workforce and worked in medical fields, receiving training in medical records at University of Texas John Sealy Hospital in Galveston, TX. She worked in doctor’s offices, hospitals, and optometry for the next 25 years.  In 1980, she moved to Sedalia, MO and Luann and Robert lived there until his death in 2006.  After Robert’s death she moved to Tifton, GA and later Ada and Norman, OK with her family.

Luann was known for her amazing memory of her life and all the things that happened in the world as she grew up during World War II and beyond.  Her exceptional memory was a wonder to her family, and she often said she could replay her life like a movie in her head.   Luann loved the Gulf of Mexico and was always tan and ready to head to the beach at Galveston, Dauphin Island, or Gulf Shores.  She was an avid rock-hound and collected rocks from anywhere she went.  Luann also loved NASCAR and followed it for many years and was a Dale Earnhardt fan.   She always had a witty comment and was making jokes up to the end.  All her life Luann was an animal lover and was always bringing a stray animal home.  Her long list of beloved dogs included Yankee, Dan, Kitty, Lucy, Shadoe,SuLu, and Sadie who were always part of her life.

Luann was preceded in death by a daughter Patricia Ann Lowrance, her mother and stepfather Ora Belden (Roberts) Schleifer and George Schleifer, her father Orville J. Winover, her husband Robert Harvey Lowrance, her sister Sue Ellen Wise, and a grandson Morgan Arthur Lowrance.  She is survived by a daughter Leah Belden Lowrance of Norman, a son Robert Richard Lowrance (Maria) of Norman, grandchildren Kristina Gunderson (Reese) of League City, TX, Lucien Kettle (Haley)of Cypress, TX, Megan Savre (Thomas) of Katy, TX, and Camden Lowrance (Larissa) of West Lafayette, IN.  She is also survived by five great grandchildren (Katie, Christopher, Micah, Victor, and Vincent), one great great granddaughter (Marigold)and numerous nieces and nephews who she loved and who were always so kind and loving to Aunt Lu.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Luann’s memory to the ASPCA, if desired. A service to honor and celebrate Luann’s life will be held on April 18, 2026, at Bitticker Funeral Home in Carrollton, MO.
