Julius “JC” Diedrich Obituary

Julius Carl Diedrich “JC” was born in Marshall, Oklahoma on August 24, 1932 to Carl and Elizabeth Diedrich. He attended Marshall High School and graduated in 1950.

He was drafted in the Korean War and serviced honorably in the Army from 1953-1955.  He also attended Northern Oklahoma College and played basketball before graduation with his associated in 1957.   He had many fun travels and lived many places, but always loved calling Marshall his home.

He met the love of his life, Bonita, and they were married on June 5, 1964.  They had 2 sons, Michael and Richard.  He served with the Fire Department, was involved with the Marshall Lions Club, IOOF, and was a registered EMT.  Most of his career life was spent working for the United CO-OP from 1967 – 1999 before he retired.  J.C. and Bonnie have been pillars in the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ community for many years.  He enjoyed pitching horse shoes and bowling and was accomplished in both.

In retirement, J.C. loved to be working outside in the garden, helping his community however he could, and spending time with his family.  He absolutely adored being a “Papa” and spoiled all of his grandchildren and he made his famous Mickey Mouse pancakes.  He and Bonnie have been part of the Marshall, OK foundation for most of their lives and have been known by most as their adopted “meme and papa” and he will be greatly missed.

J.C. passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 12, 2025, with love of his life by his side.

He is survived by his wife, Bonita;  his son Michael and daughter-in-law Teresa;  his son Richard and daughter-in-law Dena;  his 8 grandchildren, Kelsea, Michaels, Kimberly, Madison, Stacy, Kaylee, Chelsea, and Jeremy;  and his 10 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his 5 siblings, and other beloved family and friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held at the South Marshall Cemetery on May 24, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. There will be a gathering of family, friends, food, and stories at the St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Marshall following the memorial.

The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to the church in J.C.’s name in lieu of flowers
