Gary Mortell, Jr., born May 24, 1972, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on January 15, 2026. He was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend whose life touched many through his warmth, humor, and God-given ability to connect with people.
Gary was the proud father of Mckenna Mortell, married to Matt Eisele, and Zach Mortell, married to Amanda Mortell. One of his greatest joys was being “Papa” to his grandchildren, lovingly known as J-Bug and June-Bug, who brought immeasurable happiness to his life.
He is survived by his sister, Debra Fellers, Married to James Fellers, and his brother, Steven Mortell. Gary was preceded in death by his father, Gary Mortell, Sr., and his mother, Shelby Joe Allen.
Gary spent much of his life as a salesman, a calling that perfectly reflected the talents God placed within him. He truly could sell anything to anyone, not just because of his skill, but because of his genuine love for people. He never met a stranger, and his conversations often left others feeling known and valued.
Though our hearts grieve, we hold fast to the hope found in Christ. Scripture reminds us, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8). We rejoice in the Hope that Gary is at peace, reunited with loved ones, and resting in the presence of Jesus.
